What is "Pseudo Conservation" ?
"Pseudo Conservation" (as used on this site) refers to "pseudo" (fake, false, etc.) conservation actions, projects, individuals and organisations.
In recent years the serious and often critical conservation challenges and/or crises that our natural environment and biodiversity face, have been "hi-jacked" as just another "resource" that selfish, greedy and deceitful individuals and organisations ("pseudo conservationists") use and abuse for their own personal agendas, opportunities, benefit and financial gain.
"Pseudo Conservation" always involve a strategy where a specific conservation challenge/crises/species is used to emotionally manipulate and mislead uninformed but generally kind hearted members of the public. This strategy always portrays the "pseudo conservationist" as the protagonist, deserving of the unconditional support of the target audience/public - especially, for financial support in the form of continuous donations and sponsorships.
Who are the "Naked Emperors"?

Based on the the short tale: "The Emperor's New Clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen, the "naked emperor" (used as an idiom) refers to someone or something widely accepted as true or professed as being praiseworthy, due to an unwillingness of the general population to criticize it or be seen as going against popular opinion, it has become an idiom about logical fallacies.
The story may be explained by pluralistic ignorance and is about a situation where "no one believes, but everyone believes that everyone else believes, or alternatively, everyone is ignorant to whether the emperor has clothes on or not, but believes that everyone else is not ignorant."
In short, pluralistic ignorance is a bias about a social group, held by the members of that social group - for example, the bystander effect: if no-one acts, onlookers may believe others believe action is incorrect, and may therefore themselves refrain from questioning, opposing or acting.
In the context of "pseudo conservation", a naked emperor will refer to an individual (or group) posing as a "true conservationist or with true conservation intend" but in reality is "naked", a fake, false, one without any true/real conservation intend, but mainly with selfinterest as main priority!
